The Wedding March (1928, Erich von Stroheim)

A great silent film that’s begging for sound, if only he’d waited a year. Set in 1914 Vienna, an aristocrat and officer (Stroheim) falls for a commoner (Fay Wray), knowing that it cannot last. Under pressure from his family, he gives her up to marry the more socially acceptable heiress (ZaSu Pitts). Its a cruel story but so is life. Stunning images.
